"Know, children, that there once was a time when the Dark One's minions held dominion over much of the land and the People were sorely pressed by the Southrons. But still the People did fight on and came the day when Nebran the Aranaki lead the People-- and those of the left-behinds with the stomach for fighting-- to destroy the Southrons who infected our Holy Place with their vileness. After this there were many glorious battle against the Southrons as the People sent them shrieking back to their hovels in the south. This tale is from that time, and tells of Corin the Southron, who became honoured where warriors gather to boast of sword and axe."
"One day Mirgar, Druhn of the Asawne led his warriors in ambush against a column of Southron warriors. There was much slaughter as the Asawne fell on the frightened southerners and slew them. Still, the Southrons fought with shield and spear until only ten remained atop a small rise. Mirgar called on his warriors to finish the last of the Southrons. Once more did the Asawne surge up the hill and fierce was the fighting. Three men did Mirgar slay before one Southron thrust his blade deep into Mirgar's heart, killing him. Dismayed, the Asawne fell back leaving only the slayer of Mirgar standing. This man, having slain the mighty Mirgar, looked about him and shouted to the watching Asawne that they could come but many would die by the sword of Corin before their blades bit his flesh. Heartened by the bravery of the lone Southron, the Asawne made another rush. Two warriors fell to Corin's sword before he was killed. Fallorn, Hanuhn of the Asawne, had the body of Corin brought to the Asawne Holy Place and a barrow was made for this mighty warrior."
"Children, honour thy foes who fight bravely, for be they southron or thy
brothers, they are men: men like Corin the Southron."
